The PDM integration test consists of offline and online EDD tests. In the scope of the offline test which is a certification without attached device are the following items:
- Successful execution of "Device install"
- Project generation in PCS7
- Creation of a device template
- Device presentation in the device catalogue
- Device mapping into the template
- Load/save of the default table in a file.
In the scope of the online test which is a certification with attached device are the following additional items:
- Certification of device variable behaviour: Upper and lower limits, default values, enumeration elements and unit relations
- Default menu entries: Change of slave address, load in device, load in PC, display of measurement values and trend curve
- Manufacturer specific menu entries: Displays, edit boxes, bar and trend graphics, methods
- Long-time stability: Trend curves and display of measurement values.
The EDDs will be placed on a separate device CD, replacing the device catalogue included on the PDM product CD. By splitting the EDD publishing from the software Simatic PDM a different release cycle can be achieved thus representing the different dynamics between PDM versions and new device descriptions. Additionally as a new information medium a central
PDM-EDD website is provided. Newly certified EDDs are added after the acceptance procedure. The website also offers the newest EDDs for download.
