The Foundation Fieldbus is a digital, two-way fieldbus that is tailored to the requirements of process automation. Is developed and maintained by the Fieldbus Foundation. As a member of the Fieldbus Foundation, the ifak system GmbH developes solutions that integrate into your existing network.

The Foundation Fieldbus H1 allows the access the process data, as well as configuration and diagnostics of field devices. The Foundation Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA are physically identical. Both field buses use twisted pair cables, the same connections, and support up to 32 devices per segment. The biggest difference of Foundation Fieldbus and PROFIBUS is the cyclic communication.

Foundation Fieldbus devices transmit their data at set intervals and can also communicate among themselves without a master. The integration is done with Foundation Fieldbus devices on EDD or FDT.
