DeviceNet is an open field bus standard based on the CAN protocol. The open network technology has been developed by Rockwell Automation and connects senores, actuators and their control systems. The communication between the devices takes place either via point-to-point connection or via Multicast connection. So DeviceNet systems can be configured to operate in a master-slave or a distributed control architecture using peer-to-peer communication. A DeviceNet network can implement up to 64 devices. The supported baud rates are 125,250 and 500 kbps. The DeviceNet is powered by the bus or by its own power supply.
The ODVA (Open DeviceNet Vendor Association), which members are leading automation companies from all over the world, is responsible for development and management of the DeviceNet technology. The organisation supports network technology based on the application layer CIP, the Common Industrial Protocol.
The Interface isDNet USB offers flexible solutions in the field of factory automation. It has been developed for a mobile setup and configuration.
