DeviceServer UA

The DeviceServer UA is an OPC Server which offers access to device specific information and functions. Device information and functions can be integrated using EDDs, EDSs or DTMs. The device server presents the device information as provided by the respective device description. The format of the provided information coming at the OPC interface complies with the OPC specification for device integration.
The device server encapsulates the device features functionally. The access to and the representation of the device features take place via the OPC interface. The know-how of the devices, their description form and method of access remain encapsulated.
Each of the device is provided with:

• Information about the device type
• Online and offline data for single devices
• Device specific functions

The device information which can be provided for local client applications as well as for remote client applications (e.g. via the Internet) is the main advantage of the DeviceServer UA.
Communication and gateway device type manager integrate the communication. This allows a high flexibility for supported fieldbus protocols and supported communication hierarchies. The DeviceServer UA enables set up and parameterisation of devices as well as monitoring and diagnosis.
