EDDL is an electronic device description language. It implements a vendor independent dataset, an EDD, which describes the configuration, the maintenance and the functionality of a device. EDDL is an internationaly standardized language (IEC 61804-3). The tree most important fieldbus organizations, the Fieldbus Foundation, the HART Communication Foundation and the Profibus Nutzerorganisation e.V. support the application of this description language. Now, with the Enhancements specified during the past years, also more complex devices, e.g. level sensors, can be described. For Profibus- and HART-EDDs we offer the PDM-Integration test on behalf of Siemens AG to ensure a consistent quality of all EDDs included in the Simatic-PDM Device Library. |
